Notice: Please don't do this to rental or borrowed DVDs. Only do this to create backups, encode video for your iPod or PSP, or just to watch on your computer. You are soley responsible for any damages and legal action incurred

Tools Required:
DVDFeb Decryptor (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DVDFab_Decrypter.htm)
AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/)
Videora Converter for PSP or iPod (http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/)

Note: I used to use DVD Decrypter but some pricks over at Macrovisionbought DVD Decrypter and pushed some harsh liscencing on it as well as making all previous versions illegal to own. DVDFab is a decent one.

First off, start up DVDFab and insert the DVD you wish to encode. I'm choosing to put Sin City on my iPod so I can watch it at school and such.

It'll then take some time to copy the DVD files to your hard drive and decrypt the files. This will take a little time.

Now comes for an unnecessary but later convienient step. Start AutoGK and select the files. AutoGK stands for Auto Gordian Knot which will dub, encode, and slap all of the video files together. AutoGK can encode into XVID or DivX according to your preference(I'm a guy for XVID with the CBR MP3 audio codec).

Now comes a longer part. Queue the job up and start it.

Once you're done with that, load it into Videora and do a one-click convert then transfer. Enjoy

i use DVD xcopy

one click that asks if its borrowed (hit no)
once click to hit start read then.

A. if you have a reader and a burner it can tell and will ask you to put in blank media and hut ok. it will read then automattically burn.

or B. hit the brun button after switching the disk with the blank.

But X-Copy doesn't rip and encode to your hard drive.

I did a little research Rei, and I came up with some interesting results.

First of all, if you're a dedicated googler with some spare time on your hands, you can still find the old DVD Decryptor, you just have to type it into google as "DVDecryptor". I found an archived version of it about 20 results down that still worked.

Secondly, I tried using Videora on a computer with a big fat processor, and I still got the same audio track lagging problem. The wierd thing is, it doesn't do this with files that I ripped directly from DVD, but it always does it to video files I downloaded from the net, like say, DC++ or Limewire. It's quite odd really, I'm thinking it might have something to do with filetypes, but I haven't tested anything in that regard yet.

So instead of Videora, I would recommend using The Jodix iPod Video Converter (http://www.ipod-video-converter.org/)
I ran it on several different types of video files, and it worked almost flawlessly and did the job very quickly. The only thing is, it sometimes picks the wrong audio track if you try to go straight from VOB to mp4, but that's not a problem if you've already converted the VOB to AVI with AutoGK, thusly removing all the audio tracks except the one you want.

Problem with me recommending DVD Decryptor is that the company who bought the program says that all liscences are now illegal. Stupid media companies. But hey, I don't wanna get sued.

True, true. It sucks hard that they always have to stomp out good software like that. >_>

Technically doing what they did is illegal too but I'm not taking chances.
