It's... quiet.
It had always been so. But why realize it only now?
The silence was broken by a faint, distant beeping. As if it came from a dream.
He was waking up.
"Doctor! He's awake!"
The one in charge frowned. It's too early... "Tranq him. Quickly!"
The long, purple tail twitched.
This is bad...
The beeping picked up its pace. Not only was the experiment awake, it was becoming aware.
Pain... So much pain!
A hand twitched, hitting the glass wall of the tank. A pale blue liquid poured in, and the frantic beeping calmed. The team sighed in relief. They would be able to finish the project unhindered.
Then the eyes opened.
Dr. Quynn found herself staring into his eyes, colored the deepest of amethyst. Eyes that were too aware, too focused . They blinked, and the face contorted in pain.
The tranq didn't work...
The mouth opened in a scream, but no sound came out. His lungs were too filled with the liquid that had been supporting him.
Quynn backed up; the other doctors panicked as the monitors went haywire. The creature was beyond frantic now.
His eyes glowed a bright blue, then shifted through green, then gold, then finally settled on a fierce white. Cracks formed on his glass prison, then it shattered. He slumped to the bottom and curled up, coughing up the liquid and taking in deep breaths of air.
The doctors could only stare in horror at their unfinished project.
~"You will not escape this time." A dark voice taunted. Violet eyes glared up at the speaker, a man dressed in red and holding a glass of wine. "I own you, Mewtwo. And you will do as I say."
I am no one's slave! The tall form struggled against the armor with no luck. Giovanni merely laughed, and left Mewtwo in solitude.
Yet another battle. This trainer had some very powerful Pok?mon with him.
I would take death over this torture... Mewtwo thought. It had been months since the devil of a human had recaptured him. Months with no hope of ever escaping. Maybe... if I am dead, he cannot have me... He dropped all his shields.
"Alakazam! Psychic!" the trainer shouted.
"Mewtwo! Barrier!" Giovanni ordered. Mewtwo did nothing. The attack shattered his armor; shards dug into his flesh. Giovanni scowled.
"Mewtwo! Return!" The Pok?mon still didn't comply with his commands.
The opposing trainer frowned, confused. The clone's violet eyes looked up to meet his own brown.
Please... Release me from this torture...
"......."
Please...
"Zapdos! I choose you!"
My... He is a strong trainer... Mewtwo thought, a faint, sad smile on his lips.
"Thunder!"
"What?!" Giovanni roared. Mewtwo didn't defend himself.
Encore.
Zapdos shocked him again, and again.
The Gym Leader paled, catching on to Mewtwo's plan. He's committing suicide...!
The gray and purple body fell to the floor heavily.
"Zapdos... Return..."
Zapdos hesitated, taking a moment to stare at its beaten opponent in sympathy, and returned to its trainer. They left without the badge.
For months they had attempted to clone another Mewtwo for Giovanni, with no success. Giving in to desperation, they snatched a homeless boy of about 17 off the streets.
"Instead of cloning a Mewtwo, we will instead piece one together." Dr. Quynn explained, looking to the tank that preserved the body of the original Mewtwo.~
Needless to say, his half-finished body was awkward. The strange creature groaned, and finally managed to sit up. There were scars and stitches everywhere, making his body a grotesque mixture of human and Mewtwo.
His eyes scanned the room, and he turned green at the sight of the picked-apart body. God... He leaned over the edge of the platform and emptied what little was in his stomach.
One of the doctors leaned over to Quynn. "What are we going to do now? There's no way we can continue.."
She studied the strange creature for a while.
"We start over."
"But we only have one body. That would mean..."
"Precisely."
Start over? Only one body...? He didn't dare look back at the carcass. Or what was left of it, anyway. It didn't take rocket science to know they would kill him to use the pieces they'd given to him.
I don't want to die... I don't want to die!
"NO!" His tail lashed around, knocking over everything that sat behind him.
The doctors silenced, startled.
"I... will not... be part of your experiment!" It's so difficult to speak...
Dr. Quynn boldly walked forward. "Calm down..." she soothed, reaching out to touch his shoulder.
His eyes flashed white. Quynn froze in fear.
"I will not die." He snarled, showing off a pair of sharp fangs. The glow brightened. "And I will not allow you to kill others for your sick 'project'!"
The head doctor was flung back into an operating table, the very one they'd used to cut him apart and piece him back together.
What is this power? Where did it come from? Did they give it to me? I wonder... Somewhere, buried deep inside, was the knowledge of how to use it. He looked down at his hand. Five fingers...? His hand started glowing white. He looked back up and reached out, releasing the energy. Computers everywhere exploded. Smoke filled the room. Somehow... I remember this... But how?
The creature growled, letting the strange energy build up and flow out of him. The room, and soon the entire building started collapsing in on itself.
Get out... Get out!
He jumped up.
Fly away!
But how?
Levitate! You must escape, or you'll die too!
Levitate... He floated up, and then away as the lab exploded in flames.
Now where will I go?
Away.. Find somewhere to heal, somewhere away from prying eyes...
He flew away, deep into the surrounding forest.
A waterfall... and a cave behind... It will do for now.
It had always been so. But why realize it only now?
